Good day gents.

Here's my ride - 2008 YZ250 US-model that i got in November 2007. Not really the nicest bike out there but i'm deeply satisfied with it.

Might bring it to Australia in the coming months but it will all depend on the shipment cost and tax. Else, might just find a low-hour YZ at NT and join a local enduro club thereat, if any.

Kind regards.

Hi d_mac,

Enjoy the riding.
Can I ask what country are you living in at the moment?

Cheers

Good day Leanne.

I come from Metro Manila, Philippines. I'm the one at the left of the photo, with the somewhat blue and black pants. Photo taken during our trail ride to the top Mt. Pinatubo, the volcano that erupted in 1991. Incidentally and ironically, also the reason why the US air and naval bases pulled-out of the country situated nearby the mountain ranges.

Thanks a lot for the welcome ma'am. It is really appreciated.

Have a great weekend ahead. I trust that everything is well with you all.

Hi d_mac,

Haven't seen scenery like that out riding my bike in Australia.

You'll have to do some ride reports with photos before you come over.

It looks great.

Cheers
Leanne

"WOW" d_mac. That is one great pic of the volcano there. I do remember when that volcano erupted. The effects of it were felt world wide. It was worse than Krakatoa back in 1883. Dont think you would be standing there then Mate" :D . Welcome aboard to the Forum Mate, and look forward to read any of your ride reports, Im sure all of the yamaha owners on this forum would be glad to see another blue bike in the linup as well. icon_thumright

Yeah right on 1650bullet! :)

Incidentally the Pinatubo eruption was also the reason why the two largest US military bases outside of the US (Subic Naval Base and Clark Air Base) became useless for the American GI's to continue on using them as the rehabilitation of these areas would entail unimaginable cost for them. Other than that, on the operational and safety aspects, just imagine how compromising it would be for the fighter jets in a situation wherein at any one time pumice could easily go inside the aircraft's engines.

I believe the Yanks are in Darwin, NT right now to oversee the regional defence, deterence by mere presence of them, and offence from their vantage point (and the allies, of course) in the Pacific theatre. i believe China, North Korea and Indonesia are on the list of major countries being looked upon, including to a minor-and-major extent, the Al Qaida operation in Malaysia, Indonesia, and in the southern Philippines, and perhaps, even Pakistan. Jeeze, there won't be any Abu Sayyaf here in the Philippines and China's bullying had the US bases stayed on :D

shaun :D

Thanks HEAPS for the warm welcome guys (1650 bullet, shaun spr). It is really appreciated ;)

The volcano is located in the north-central part of Luzon island, Philippines. The nearest city to the Mt. Pinatubo volcano is Angeles City, which is around 81 km from the capital Metro Manila by land. Mt. Pinatubo is located along the Zambales mountain range, and the soil here is typically sandy, and bouldery (not clayey like the rest of the country). The former US bases mentioned above were strategically situated along the foothills of the Zambales mountain ranges.

There are a lot more pics that I took at that trail ride but just loaded up a bit of it.

Most of the trails we're riding here are probably more or less similar to those ones in Australia - which i may categorise as typical trails that you find in tropical or sub-tropic countries along the Mid- to South-Pacific region, i.e. predominant soils are of the weathered type (clays).

Kind regards.
