Post Re: Looking to buy a new bike, what do I get
I haven't tried the 350 out but Paul took McTanish's for a blat and was a little disappointed in the power...he was expecting more, ....obviously he was comparing it to the crf 450 which has copious amounts of bottom end, and he is running standard gearing on his at the moment which emphasises this even more.... and obviously Paul's blood runs very red. He said the european bikes are a completely different feel to the jap bikes and would take some getting used to. He wants to update too but he is working 5 weeks on 5 weeks off for the next 3 years and will probably limp the '07 along during that time because of the limited time available to ride. He likes the 570 berg but keeps saying it isnt a honda. Did i mention he is resistant to change? sign10 The berg had great power delivery and turned well in the tight stuff and felt light and nimble but was so light in the front end to a fault due to his love of hill climbs. They tractored really well and was almost like cheating when hill climbing because gear selection wasnt too crutial. They are lighter than the 450x also. One thing he loved about McTanish's bike was the brakes and its ability to stop. I'm a good listener aren't I :D
The CRF's have been bullet proof since stainless valves and we have had a good run out of them.
I really think personally what you like in a bike is very individual, the same thing someone loves about a bike will be the thing someone else hates.
All the best with the selection ladies and gents....I love my 450 so no bike for me for a long while.

Am yet to actually hear anyone complain about the new 2011/12 Husky's made by BMW, are they shit ? dontknow

I rode the latest 300 EXC and the new Berg FE450 the other day through some nice firetrails and was impressed with the handling and how light they felt, was disappointed in the power though, but that maybe a lifesaver in disguise too ;)

My 2005 TE510 is still going strong and has never let me down :headbang , its just hard work compared to the new stuff, i may go orange yet tongue3

I have a 511 & its one hell of a bike. Let some mates ride it over chrissy & they all own current model Pumpkins & bergs, they are that impressed with it they are going to the dark side next bike update time. The berg riders rode 450s & 570s. They said the 450 didn't have enough poke, whilst the 570 has to much. The 511 was perfect for them all.Smooth power & plenty of it. Probably the most commented issue was how the bike instills shit loads of confidence & that comment comes from every body who rides it.
I don't feel any pity for any body who buys a Husky & buys it from a nobb of a dealer. Buy one from a good dealer Who knows the brand & no Probs, buy one from a nobb who knows jack shit about them & you will all hear about it.
I have never owned a bad Husky yet.

Yep, it revs harder & is not as smooth & powerfull as the 511 & there is only a 28cc difference. I came off a WR300 & it feels lighter to ride than the 2T. You only notice the difference when you pick it up
