thanks simon
im using the toshiba 8gb micro sd card in the adapter that the give you. im using those lithium batteries so I dont think it is the batts would you think it is better to use straight sd card and not the micro and adapter. i think it is just from going shade to bright and the cam cannot keep up. i guess it is that old saying you get what you pay for im happy with it just that flickering stuffs up a good movie.

thanks again icon_thumright

No worries mate

could have been worth the small step up (perhaps a reasonable step up) to the HD170 give you more options.

still the vids look good in small screen.

note the audio is shit no matter which version you get. the foam over the mic makes a difference Raykin I think is going to give it a try. (I think).

aspect ratio will change the screen layout IE the new TV's are 16 x 9 but the telly's of old are 4 x 3

this will just give you a different "square" or rectangle if you like. HD cams will all be 16 x 9 720p is 1280 x 720 pixels and that is a ratio of 16 x 9 (close to any way).

try each setting and see which one you think looks the best. I use wide screen and 720p always now.

Now for exposure this is something that I was getting wrong on the vio out of the box.

The setting that the cam comes with on mine looks like a dogs breakfast. Why they set that as the defult I will never know. perhaps it looks good snowboarding or for coppers breaking peoples heads??? (Thes are used in law enforcement)

I changed mine from full to spot and it made a HUGE diffrenece

what choices do you have on yours mate???

with the exposure all i can do is go from -1 to +1 in .5 increments.

in the manual it says if you are in snow you would probably want a minus setting and in dark go plus settings so if I go more to the plus would it try and stay brighter all the time?

Hmm that sounds like a plan.

what is the stock setting that the cam has set when turned on?

Yes as I understand it if you force the exposure higher it will brighten the video.

If you can

and the conditions and just about right outside set it 0.5 the 1 and video outside under trees etc just carring it around and see what the video is like.

if you keep the vids short you can upload without editing at all IE raw. That gives the best idea of whats happening.
