Hey Simon im no expert but my new HD Drift looks much clearer in 720p even after you-tube compression than your VIO. dontknow Just my opinion. Might have to sell it off to someone and go the DRIFT ! My raw footage that i save straight to my external storage is crystal clear. I think the 1080 vids you posted are fairly simular but the Go Pro might just win. ( I am old and half blind so i might not be the best to ask !)

do me a fav Ray and Upload some Drift footage to Vimeo. You can use my account if you have no login (PM me if you need them)

it would be great to have a 3rd comparrison.

Note I think that the raw 720p footage is much better than whats on vimeo Dunno why they look so poor on Vimeo

I will be uploading to youtube as well. (Hate it as youtube crashes over and over for me.....)

Hey Simon this is the u-tube version of the vid and i will post the Vimeo version of it when i work out how. Then you can see what the difference is like between the two same vids. The vid is un-edited and recorded in 720p from the drift.

The V.I.O POV.HD

The first units received, mine & Simon s, if I'd had these first i would have not accepted pre payments on the others, I've also offered refunds to a couple.
However like both Simon & myself - V.I.O users have in the past been used to the best standards & we believe (or hope) this returns.

There's no doubt the build & component quality is still top shelf BUT there are some small underlying battles going on between the electronics that is just not letting it be a happy marriage.
Already over the last 2 weeks a couple of upgrades have been released & the improvements are definitely promising.

Back when it was all SD, i was stoked in the 1.5 & the inconvenience of a cable was little concern for the return in the footage & 6hr battery life, it`s not the case now.

We've been spoilt with other units & the POV.HD should of blown us away - it hasn't
I am waiting for some more firmware updates & when i get them will run the camera thoroughly, I've set up a rack for the DMAX & will have all the cams together for a comparo.

Battery Life is the same as the other smaller units at around 2.5hrs

All bike footage looks best in 720p (IMO)

My choices at the moment -

A draw for #1 spot between GoPro & Drift - GoPro still because it's waterproof & robust, DRIFT is the easiest to use & IMO has better quality footage, the audio is still poor without using the external mic. When DRIFT releases a waterproof case & improves it's native audio - it will have a clear advantage.

VIO - 2nd

Contour - Hahahaha. I was about to re-introduce them after talking with the new importer, they assured me the problems have been resolved, I rode with some fellas that had the new GPS units, both of which did not function & 1 was full of dust behind the lens, i haven't bothered taking delivery of the offered demo units just yet, Im not convinced

Currently playing with 2 other brands & they're not bad

I started a reseller business recently, i chose the DRIFT only, overall it's the most stable product, has good support & is well priced. I'm waiting for some responses from GoPro about adding it also, it'll always remain in getonits line up either way.

Ok

perhaps

I am coming around.

PERHAPS>>>

Ammamore today was a blast

Until my guts played up and I was spweing up what ever I drank.... pottytrain4 :puke

I did manage a "Bit" of Video

So On Dag's advice

I set the cam To:
Spot Metering.

720P 30 frames per second.

High quality.

Pal output.

The results were Much better than expected.

The cam is set for "full frame" metering from default and this is a mistake in my opinion

Here is the first Vid from in the field

I am happy with the result.

NOTE the Mic gain is set to auto. so when I rev the bike it reduces the gain. The end result of this is the bloody bike sounds like its Idleing all day. Even when Im close to the limiter. (Shane will LOVE this)

There is rain on the lense and it still looks good fullscreen
