Post Helmet cam and Still Camera Tip
I have a Tip that goes for all types of helmet cams (To a lesser degree) and the still cams To the largest degree and Movie cameras. Get the best and hight Class Card for the cam you can
Class 10 if possible.

I have The "Go Pro Hd" and It is suggested that Kingston SD cards are used.

I will back that up.

I use a panasonc DMC-TS1 still / Movie camera.

Now I had been using a class 4 SDHC card in it. Now when I used the "Burst Function" IE press the shutter and take a bunch of pics in a row It was slow and I missed so many great shots.

I have just purchased a Class 10 16 gig SDHC card for the still cam. $45 from Umart not bad for an orignal kingstion card of that size.

In a seat of the pants comparison The camera seems to take twice the ammount of shots in burst mode as the class 4 card.

The movies save quicker as well.

The difference I think is that a class 4 is 4 x faster than a class 1 and a class 10 is 10 x faster. This is probably wrong and I hope someone with more knowledge will correct me here.

So my advice would be for taking the actions shots dont just bung in the cheap old SD card. spend a bit on the card (Dont get them through ebay as you are just throwing money away IMO)

A class 10 card will make a difernce.

well we will see after the xmas ride if The pics I ahve taken are any better....

Speed Class Rating

The Speed Class Rating is the official unit of speed measurement for SD Cards, defined by the SD Association. The Class number represents a multiple of 8 Mb/s (1 MB/s), and metes the least sustained write speeds for a card in a fragmented state.[11]

These are the ratings of some currently available cards:[11]

* Class 0 cards do not specify performance, which includes all legacy cards prior to class specifications.
* Class 2, 2 MB/s, slowest for SDHC cards.
* Class 4, 4 MB/s.
* Class 6, 6 MB/s.
* Class 10, 10 MB/s.

a few stores around the place

SImon, kind on topic, when using my Panasonic in HD mode (*.MTS file) I get great video quality as you know. I have managed to get the computer to play back these vids using windoze media player, but for the life of me cant get movie maker to edit them, or any other free software for that matter

Pinnacle Studio 14 did it, but I'm not convinced I need to spend $100 on a software key

Got any better ideas??

Hamish if you have the Panasonic and using it in AVCHD mode and then grab the files from the Stream (I Think) Folder... then editing will be an issue.

You might notice I actually post the Vids up whole and Don't edit. If I come up with a solution I will let you know.

In the mean time you could try the Avidemux program I put a quick guide up for. Clip the bits you want down to size.
viewtopic.php?f=95&t=2478
(This is only for clipping) you cant cut bits out of the middle....

Then open your desired editing software and then drop the edited clips into the time line whole. Choose MP4 (I think this works.) when I get a chance I will give it a shot.

Then you can add music titles etc with the editing software.

If you look on the right hand side it has an "About this Video" section

It states MTS there.

The good thing with MTS is they are High quality (Very high) and small ish files.
