Post Arizona Rocks Rocks & more Rocks ride
G'day All, Well I'm buggered! ;) I've just had 2 days of Awesome Riding notworthy I was loaned a wr450f 08 perfectly set up for me by Big-E on advrider it was spot on icon_thumright

Saturday's ride
8:00am start from superior heading to "The Coke Ovens" at Florence
see here for more info http://www.desertusa.com/mag01/jan/stories/ovens.html

30 odd riders turned up we split into 3 groups to spread out due to the dusty conditions 1st hill was only a couple of k's in and it sorted out a the groups with some riders deciding to head back for the cars , It was dry and dusty ground conditions were rocky, very rocky with many steep lose rocky hills :wav and some dry creek beds sections of lose gravel and litered with rocks lots of fun was had and heaps of racing occasion18 bootyshake
once at the coke ovens we regrouped and learnt of a rider having a crash and taking some injury we head back via a differant loop heading back for the cars lots more rocks and hills with some more creek beds through in for fun :headbang back at the cars 2:00pm with 70 miles cover and headed for a cafe for some mexican food icon_thumright

Sunday up
9:00am kick off from an ex pat Aussie's house,
Small group of 8 riders most of knowing each other pretty well
We heading for Crown king (small old mining/timber town up in the hill at about 5500ft elv)
400m of tar and we were into it :D a good mix of tracks hills creek beds to start with then into the snotty stuff rocks, boulders, rutts, hills, icon_scratch really just fantastic tracks with lots of fun had as we got higher it got cold, real cold then snow :? and some ice :o with the lead rider taking a fall. into crown king and to an old timber mill that is now a cafe for lunch they still use the original boilers for heading so we spent some time thawing out and had luch and some laugh occasion14 s before heading back via differant track and more cold and snow till we droped down in elavation some real sweet fast flowing tracks and lots of play racing the sun goes down pretty quick so a flat wasn't planned for but we got 1 a little tar then more dirt back to reidy's house around 130 miles covered

with out a doubt this will be a high light of my trip and the blokes i've riden with have all been great, 2 Blokes have just been awesome reidy008 (ex aussie) and Big-E (sorted the ride loaned me his wr and sort some riding gear for me) the ridng here is awesome and i hope to come back for more

Ditchy,

A little riding tip in rocky terrain, "dont look for the hazard", look for a soft place to crash!!!

Always ride really close behind someone hoping that if they crash, you'll have a soft spot to land on.............Those rocks look harder than a cats head!

Enjoy
