Well what can say awesome day today..
Four Riders
Shitscared
robo67
Ian
Rob

Well six hours riding 20klms covered, extreme rock strewn mountains, vertical ledge drops, thousands of logs, lantana taken to a whole new level.
Bikes boiled too many times to count awesome hills excellent gullies and just extreme terrain.

Bikes faired well today nothing that can't be fixed/aligned without cost, one broken rider Rob damaged his knee near the end of the day flippin his bike on a hill and had to hobble out.

Numerous put downs for everyone reckon a brake snake would have saved me and the bike on at least a dozen occasions today if i had one...
will have to get a one way valve on my breather hose lost fuel for the second time while upright riding steep downhills..

Highlight of the day was reopening a loop that hasn't been used for many years and finding an abundance of overgrown trails from decades ago..
If clean one would really understand why the area a decade ago was consided the best riding spot in Northern NSW..

Strange things you find on the trails an old camp tarp between trees with tents underneath couple of beds and tarp covered in old brush..

One group with guys on big bikes,2 girls on pit bikes one with busted handlebars and tied up with a stick and rope also a flat front tyre just to make it a little more interesting to ride..
we lent them some duct tape because it fixes everything..

thanks to all that battled the elements and extreme terrain today can't wait for the next one..

will try to get some footage up at some time wasn't a lot taken as the 6hrs was spent mostly trying to conquer what was in front of us while keeping the bikes upright..

this one's very steady maybe a bit boring but gives you a look at a few more likely trails

Looks good robo. Is the dude with the broken bike another of shitty's clients?

Seems a shame so many of those tracks are badly overgrown, you can really see the potential down there :(

Nicely edited vid Robo...entertaing as always.
The terrain looks challenging for sure....you can see the work you have been putting in. I take it the red tape trail is your work? How come the tracks are all overgrown down that way? Do they not get enough riders in there? Did they get a scare from the loacl authorities and riders have moved on? I would have thought there would be more Gold coast riders hitting the trails down there? Looks like it would be awesome riding once opened up. Mt Mee is the same at the moment...they say they are going to hit the area hard and everyone gets scared and tracks...good ones...get overgrown...its pretty disappointing I reckon. Let the MXers have their fun in there...at least they keep the trails open. headbang Trouble is if you don't use it the bush reclaims it. Good on you for opening it up and spending so much time for doing so.
Cheers
Donna

the forestry are not interested in the tracks any longer when i spoke with them last..

i was told that the rating on said tracks is now only for emergency or logging work at a given time,we know where the tracks are and will only access them with a dozer if one of these needs arises...

the three main access roads once were slashed either side of the wheel marks this doesn't even happen any longer..

i really don't think that they are that interested in logging any of it,i think it will more likely be included into the Toonumbar national park at some stage..

i am really hoping i have got it wrong...

Thats pretty much my take on all the state forest down there.... letting the tracks overgrow, because they know its going to be turned into NP soon.

I just got word suspension matters has put my rear shock in the post today. So I am keen for a ride down there on sunday/monday to keep the tracks open.

i sort of look at in the way that soon as all that plantion timber is matured that will be it.
the area covered by plantion timber now private and forestry would be far larger than any area logged from natural forest since they started clear felling for farms etc..

Getting pretty overgrown round Kenilworth too, I'm thinking a full face helmet !!! for the Lantana.
Too many cuts.
Its the time of year, lots of growth through the summer, plenty rain and sun.
Winter it all stops and opens up.
