hey all I had some issues with my 400 .....yet again ............ well after having it rebuilt (top end) I went on the kenilworth ride last year 28th december....... awesome ride!!!!! go home and washed the bike, then took it on a dry off put and huge smoke clouds followed me ....... shane-o told me on the ride he could smell oil behind me. Well finally got it to a shop and the engine apart and the piston has overheated and expanded ..... scoring the piston , the bore and screwing the rings.

Anyways the time has come to fix it AGAIN ..... well talking with my "NEW" mechanic we were thinking since the 400 is a sleeved down 450,,,, can i replace the bore with the 450 sleeve and the piston to match or is more required.

any info will be welcome

I was thinking about turning the bike into a $7000 KTM boat anchor but the wife said that was not an option

yeah, except its a 2011 not the old 400..... was wondering if you just replace the bore and the piston to get a 450 or does the bottom end or anything else need changing

Think you just get the pisson and ring rebuilding kit for a 450 and bolt it on .probs
Ask at the ktm shop

yeah i have to replace the bore because ti is that badly scored, so im thinking i can get the 450 bore and the 450 piston and ring set and should be good. il let you know what happens
