Post My new KTM
It has been a long time coming but I finally have a bike. I bought Simmo's 02 KTM 400EXC. It's fitted with pro-taper bars and grips, bridgestone gritty-ED12 tyres, and a pro-circuit exhaust. I don't have any plans for it at this stage as I need to get to know the bike before I can make decisions on how to modify it. At this stage all I know is it may need some padding taken out of the seat cos its a little too tall for me, and for my skill level (0.0001) it feels like it has plenty of go.
I hope to get at least a couple of short rides in before the training ride in september so I can get a feel for the bike and what I'm capable of. I'll try get some good photos before I go out and scratch up my new gear ;)
I'm sure most of you have already seen this bike before, but here's what it looks like sitting in my garage...

I gotta be honest, this sucks, I really just wanna ride it. I've damn near tied myself to the chair so i don't run out, strap my gear on and take off into the night.

yeh I have to say, its got too much power for me at this stage. I'll have to be careful. when I took it for a test ride, it scared the sh## out of me! I'm so used to riding a heavy and gutless road bike where peak torque is at 10,000rpm, so my natural instinct is to flick the throttle every time I change gears. I did this going into 2nd not 50 meters into my roadtest. I felt all the weight shift to the back and the front got real light all of a sudden. I'm not sure if it stood up on its back wheel cos I had my eyes closed, lol. but needless to say, it was a pretty big wake up call. "This thing is a totally different animal to my ZZ-R250."

Dont let the darkness stop you....when I bought my xr250 years ago...my first ride was up at Clear mtn at 7.00pm....now that is an eye opener at night.
