Post New here, new to dirt bikes - Brisbane Southside
Hi Everyone, just saying Hello.

I got my first dirt bike in December, a 2010 DRZ-400e with sumo and enduro wheels.
I've only been off-road once before, that was Duck Creek Rd on an ER-5 after one of the big wet periods we had a few years ago. I spent most of that trip getting the bike out of a bog. Once it was out there was no going back...
I plan to do that road again, tomorrow, since it's the only dirt road I know from experience now and it's not difficult at all. Then maybe I can start trying rides through Mt Mee, Beerburrum and such. I'm on the southside though so I prefer southern rides of course. I definitely want to try the enduro trails at QMP as well.

Hope to get my confidence and skills up soon and come out on some rides with some of you all.

About me:
27, Male, currently going to uni after deciding on a career change, also own a 2012 Triumph Street Triple 675 which I love to bits.

See you around!
Kieren.

Thanks, I will come on a ride once I get more of an idea of how well I can ride the dirt. Unless there's a grade 1 ride before then...

With regards to protective gear, I'm not sure if I've gone over the top.
I have an Acerbis Armour Net Pressure Suit, Oneal 2015 Adult Black Rider Boots, Alpinestars 2014 Vapor Black Knee Guards, O'Neal Racing Element Pants 2013, Thor Void Gloves 2013, a couple of jerseys to go over the top, and of course a helmet and goggles.
I dressed up in them and I look like a gridiron player and felt ridiculous. I know it's not quality gear but it's my first lot of stuff so once I'm more involved I'll upgrade to better gear.

Haha good video. Might wait until I have some wrap-around handguards before I try stuff like that. I did order some but turns out they're glorified wind deflectors and don't connect to the bar-end.

Thanks for the welcome! I'll hopefully have some video of my first experience tomorrow.

Hi kiz - yep yas gotta start somewhere
5 yrs ago I started on a DRZ400 2007 after over 10yrs of no riding.
its a great learner / re starter bike = electric start bulldozer.
reccomend some Mods to do
Get rid of the stock pipe withan aftermarket slipon!
and rejet = big improvment.

And if it has one? = delete the mesh restriction screen in between the air filter and carb
its a worthless air flow restrictor robs top end. icon_salut

Just those x 3 things makes the drz into something more trail friendly.
Yep get those bash bars - its a must.
then maybe get a lighter headlight and take the stock $1000.00 computer speedo off.
Buy a secondhand RMX one or after market if you think you really need one?
And then thrash it hard cause itll handle a beating!
and after youve mastered it in the mud!
you can then look at upgrading to light nimble 2 stroke when you realise its a heavy beast after dropping it a few times :headbang but it goes up through and over all most anything. notworthy
C U outhere!
