Ok, History lesson, rode a KLX650R back in NZ when i was about 23, Needless to say, I loved it, Told myself I'd own one, one day.
Fast forward 8 years and a country later, I purchased one such bike a '96 B1 model.
Had to drive to Rockhampton (1100kms return) to get it, it fitted into a VH wagon.

After 50,000 odd k's, it has endured 2 dustings and 2 top end rebuilds, still original valves though, last build required a 680cc kit though.
I've also cracked the frame, snapped the head mount off twice, blew the rebound stack apart on the orginal forks, done the swingarm bearings 3 times,
and used a log to modify the bash plate and a stump to modify the R/H footpeg.

Here it is now.....
Image

Mods include.....
- 680cc Vulcan Piston kit
- 18 Litre acerbis tank
- SM Pro rims
- 280mm front disc
- Keihin FCR41 pumper
- Ex Thumpernats forks
- Handlebar risers
- KX450F front guard
- RM250 fork guards
- Custom Bathy footpegs
- Mod plated rear pillion pegs

Spare parts include.....
- 12 and 8 litre fuel tanks
- 17" Cush drive rear wheel
- Ohlins shock
- KX forks
- Mikuni TM42 Pumper
- Stainless megaphone race muffler
- TK Aluminium muffler
- KX250 rear guard
- KX500 swingarm modified to suit
- Extendable rear carry rack

And here it is at Bathurst....

Well it's looks like they maybe approx $14,000 to fill the bugga's..(maybe more).. Mine used to cost approx $25,000 to fill and that's when Diesel was about 65-75c after rebate.
The JD 8640 used to drink 1,000L in 8-12hrs when towing the chisel.
I'd get two fills done at seeding time and then two more fills for rest of year. Sometimes a small interim fill to keep the yoot's, small tractors etc going..

I don't miss farming in the respect of the cost of shit, that's for sure.
