Post Re: Post up ya trolley
I have done something unimaginable !

Upon leaving the track and hitching up the trailer i got a pat on the back from
and old freind when i was at the point of connecting up the ball etc.THIS POINT
is where it went all wrong !!! i stood with foot on the drawer bar and gabbled
about things old and new and forgot to drop the latch on my toe ball .

I drove some 2 1/2 hours when 2 k's past ESK at 620 pm i came upon a crest of a
hill and a cute little Bunny rabbit faced me and was going to clean him up when
i braked hard to save Bugs from certain death.Dropping to aprox 90 k/m h i felt
a tug from behind and then a sense of freedom from towing somthing. I braked
again to witness my trailer along with all possesions INCLUDING my beloved 2010
450 ktm travel hard left into an embankment and all seemed slow motion until
point of impact.Kaboom, spin spin spin like helicopter blades ! The highway was
littered from everything on my trailer including my bike.

Things got scary as two young girls came the other way doging the mess, they
pulled up ran back to me and said if im OK.More cars came and one came from my
direction over the crest and did not slow and drove thru my jerry cans esky
botlles you name it ! One girl had broken glass hit her from the impact and
screamed and put me on edge as cars keped coming.I said to get off the hiway as
more people pulled up to help me.A car with orange flashers on roof slowed the
cars to a stand still as a off Duty policeman pulled took charge thru the
darkness very sternly spoke to all on the road .I had around 10 people collect
everything and throw it on the trailer which was un towable(obviously).I
reveresed to re hitch trailer when some said FARK theres a bike under
it.Everything was piled up as if was going to the dump. The copper got me to
skull drag it to a nearby side road and check all is good and things.Calm was
restored to all as they left me with mr poilceman.

At 10 30 pm i had everything transfered onto and into 2 x utes from my dear
brother who lives on Mt Nebo rd and parked the trailer in a paddock.Bed at 1230
am.Today i retrived it with a freind using a car trailer and took it to the guy
who built it ( Mick V )at Holland Park. My bike was delivered by my brother late
today and ready to go to the Panel beaters for repair (or trade )I actually
wanted a 400 exc anyhow. I have photos but its a new camera and not loaded the
disk for TFR as yet.

If you ever thought what would happen when a trailer lets go, ask me. I now know
and learnt the hard way. NEVER EVER distract from hithing anything to a
car.Start and complete it .Do all of it OR NONE of it ! I could of killed the 2
girls if the trailer went right and not left.Clearly i was lucky, NO One was
hurt.Possesions are shit and thought how that car could of swerved into me as
they tryed to avoid my stray trailer.I am lucky..... I am gratefull ....I am OK.

This weeks topic is
Please hitch up with care and focus

PS Thank you to Blue oval coupe for the speedy repairs delivered back to my door
Simon will receive the prize being a funnel from blue oval coupe :D

Fark mate that was disturbing,
I feel for you.

Know the feeling almost, was towing a Hobie Cat on trailer years ago
and it unhitched itself, lucky the safety chains held on,
swung around a little but OK

What about your chains ?
Guess the main thing is no one was hurt.

My mates trailer came off a couple years ago, speared off to the left as well, camber of the road I would say.

I take 3 things away from this.

Never stop when hitching the trailer.

Chain the bugger with 2 saftey chains

and Never Trust a Bunny!!!!

Erwin mate hate to hear news like this. not good.

When I was a kid I watched our huge caravan over take us as our hitch detroyed itself on our old international.

When I was a teenager I watched a Box traler do triple spins through the air as it came off the back of the 4wd i was in at 140.

I lost my trailer last year due to the same thing. Funny thing is it lasted to My drive way from the beer! then came off and on the the chain. Bike came off the trailer and into the grass shit everywhere. But as I was home I got away with that one.......

All is good again with bike and trailer back home.Hurricane is about 98% straight and has the life of a 5 yr old bike.
Last sat i fully submerged it under water, crossing a creek and that was another story.
We have a big break between rounds at the moment,so looking to jump on a grade 4 ride with some of you
I know this thread is drifting off topic,so i will distance myself to another thread
