get yourself an old tractor tyre anfd flip it end for end up and down your driveway in your ride gear . massive cardio + quads , core and shoulder workout Then if you get stuck over there you can always pick your bike up and carry it

Pricey

Consider Hot Yoga (look up bonfire)
Yoga in a room heated to 38-40 degrees without the airy fairy mumbo jumbo.
The wifey roped me in to have a go, after only seven classes the love handles are gone and my backs stronger and theres a two pack where there was a slab ( wife can't see it but she needs new glasses).
You sweat a LOT .It targets the core muscles and flexibility and is an intense workout without the instant muscle soreness. And there is gray haired fit guys doing it so you won't feel out of place :D . Classes go f or 60 or 90 minutes.

Cheers
Daren

Cheers Darren, I will look up, might struggle where I am living, only small town but you never know dontknow getting old's a bugger :cussing things that used to be easy seem so much harder BangHead

Pricey hats off to you for living your dreams. As mentioned above, yoga is great for strength and flexibility. For fitness Im sure April for have some great advice but also have a serious look at Interval Training. There are a few gyms that specialise in this, one on the north side of Bris if I recall correctly.

Nice job Pricey! Best of luck to you and the bike!

I just watched the 2012 Romaniacs and that was brutal, good entertainment from my couch though!

Also what made you choose Romaniacs over Erzberg, Sea to Sky, Roof of Africa?

Looking forward to your stories when you get back, also wouldn't mind catching up with you on a ride again soon!

Hey Pete, Things for the support, I will look up Depre's videos on you tube, all the help will not go a-stray. I have been in touch with April and seem's my routine that I am currently doing is ok, just sounds like I need to step up the cycling a bit
Cheers

Hi Naomi,
Been a while, how is everything going and have you been out riding much dontknow

Romaniacs has been a dream for a few years, just like the look of the country and the challenge of the hills, little similar to what I have been riding in NZ only bigger and harder :o IF it rains there won't be many finishes in the expert and hobby classes, it's tough enough in the dry :wav
If I could afford to I would like to do Roof of Africa mainly for the rocky technical hills - something different hello2 They would all be good to have a go at and try and finish or get as far as you can before being timed out

I will keep you posted

Catch up soon
Cheers
Steve

Post Re: Road to Romaniacs
Hi All,
Been a long time since I posted and I have been slack BangHead The last 4mths has been a blur, had a tree drop on the house during the Austalia day weekend storms and have only just had the tarps on the roof replaced with tiles - can't rush insurance companies I guess :cussing

Also lots of change with work that has kept me busy.

I have managed to get a fair bit of training in before and after work and time will tell if it will be enough dontknow Cardio feels good :headbang

I competed in a few extreme enduros in NZ with mixed results, the last being in late March where I cracked 2 ribs and damaged my left hand, this set me back a few weeks, was just starting to get fit again then tore my rotator cuff, back on the bench for another few weeks followed by a shot of cortisone to get me through until after the event.

I have had plenty of time on the bike clocking up around 130hrs since January, my new 250 sixday is looking rather tired now :(
Anyway I am now sitting in Brisbane airport nervous but ready to depart and head to Sibiu for 5 days of the some of the best riding in the world. I will be running a GoPro and will have my wife and son there taking lots photos and will post up when I get a chance.

Race Number is 142
Prologue course is looking wicked crybaby2
Can't wait to head into the Capathian Mountains on day 2.
Goal = Finish.

Cheers
Steve
