Ok people this is a chance to show all the motorbike haters we are not mongrels.
Wes is there someway of getting a group pm out.Tra has 1000members right. Now if every member donated $5 thats 5k.This should replace the ttr125.

We have a couple raffles on our club ride and will donate all proceed's to this cause (about $500 i reckon) if somebody can sort out the collection side of this.

Getting it all together would be an issue.Anybody into banking ?

Having kids of my own i know how much it would upset zacman if his was stolen let alone a person battling through poor health.
Tell me to piss of if you want but this poor bloke has a lot on his plate agreed.
Anybody else with idea's post em up.
Maybe somebody has a contact at a yamaha shop ?

steve.

^ that's a good idea

That kids world would be smashed by that..... Given that it was donated by Make-A-Wish, he obviously has a serious illness.

However I doubt every member would contribute, you may get 10% of members?

Regardless, I'd be happy to chip in for a case like this.

You’d need to open a bank account and give the details to anyone interested in making a donation. The donation can be made electronically (most people use internet banking these days?), so no cash goes floating around. Regular updates on deposits to be posted in the forum, along with scanned bank statements, or net banking screenshots. Once collected a fast talking TRA member can talk a deal at a dealer (assuming enough is collected).

I’d be happy to manage the bank account thing, given I’m an accountant, however maybe a longer serving member might give donators better piece of mind that there cash isn’t disappearing.

I also have kids, thankfully none with a serious illness (well one is a type 1 diabetic).... so I can only imagine what this poor kid is going through :(

Talking with a couple dealers now.to see what we need to get him a new bike.
I also rang the police station and spoke with the officer in charge and he is visiting the family this arvo and will ring me back.

Leave the bike stuff to me i can do that it's the bank stuff i cannot.

Great Idea!
I would have no problem to put this money in, and I am sure others wouldn't.
Scum of the earth who steal off others.

Post Re: stolen bike
surely with all the new bikes purchased from riders on this site through pro ktm/yamaha on the sunny coast here those blokes would be able to do a deal, donate in part, etc for this to happen if enough of us raise the coin? maybe someone here with a working relationship with them could have a talk?, dale?, a brand newie wouldnt be unachievable between the 3 sites if we keep clear lines of communication happening?, anyone here a member of dirt track cowboys as well? everyone with a facebook account post a link up to the news story, when someone organises details for banking chuck that on there as well, every dollar would help, im happy to offer some cash, the only other thing i could offer would be use of my ute to transport the bike if needed, pretty sure there will be plenty of offers of that though, keep us informed of any eventualitys, and let me know where i need to send the $$$$$, lets get this happening, pretty unlikely they will catch these tip rats, i hope karma bites them on the arse and they break their F##K necks on it.

cheers

This was kipo from tra and probably the easiest way to do this.I will keep you all updated.

I've been thinking of ways to do this, set up bank account, who controls the money till we have enough?? etc, etc. All too hard for us to manage, so what about this:

We contact Make-A-Wish and ask then to receive donations from us with the money specifically earmarked for this young bloke. That way the money is controlled and accountable plus I assume we'd get tax deductible receipt.

When we hit say $3,500 assuming that's what a decent 2nd hand TTR125 costs someone from here checks out a bike and buys it, pending where it is. Preferably in the eastern states so getting the bike to the kid is less hassles.

Hopefully there is enough money and we can find the right bike before his 18th birthday in May.

Things to consider, if his bike is returned before we get one, what happens to the money? Would people be happy to just call it a donation to Make-A-Wish?

The bike donation could be made in the name of tra and Advrider

EDIT: I suppose it doesn't have to be a TTR125. Pending how much we raise I reckon he'd love any decent dirt bike under the circumstances and at 18 he might like something with a bit more grunt.
