Yep, Last week the good old Qld Government authorised the power providers to raise their prices by 6%.
Apparently they needed to do that because their income/profit was down because they didn't sell enough electricity over the summer.
The reason they didn't sell so much, people were trying to conserve it.
S0 if you try to save money by conserving electricity, which is what the greenies tell us to do, the mofos just put the price up to cover their greedy arses anyway.

Anyone remember what they did with water? To save the environment/we haven't built enough dams etc you'll have to stop using so much water/electricity etc. Now we're not making as much money out of it as we used to, so now you'll have to pay more for it! The cycle continues. Bye Anna!

random old post. But mine are around $360 with the two of us or around $280 for just one. Must admit, we are pretty careful with the lights/power usage/etc. Mostly only home for a few hours before hitting the hay and out on the weekends. One more of the joys for not having kids I guess

Got our quarterly power bill Before christmas last year. Because we have a 4KW solar power system, Origin owes us $475.00. We also have gas with origin. Oven-Stove-Hot water-Heater. and when we get our gas bill i just pick up the phone and ask to use my Electricity credit to pay the gas bill. So we sought of have 2 less utility bills to pay for now. icon_thumright

I tried to get solar, the w@nkers stuffed me around for ages after I paid the deposit. I have a decromastic roof or something and they couldn't stick em up on that. But they didn't tell me until I called up at 6pm asking why I was waiting all day for it to be installed. If they bothered to tell me instead of just doing a drive by and f&*king off they could have put them on the carport or garage.

I believe that electricity retailers are only required by law to actually physically read your meter once a year. The other 3 quarters they can just estimate what your usage may have been, so when they do actaully physically read your meter, that bill might be considerably different to the other 3 as they are looking to make sure you haven't either been overcharged or undercharged on the previous 3.

At least I know that's the way it worked a couple of years back.
