With helmets - definately try them all on. Get one that fits your head really well, snug, confortable and that you can wear for extended periods. Your head should be the most protected area of your body, so make sure its right.

I have a pressure suit (body armour) that I can wear under or over a shirt depending on the weather. But, each to their own. I just don't feel safe with a roost protector. I like the fact that it covers your elbows, shoulders, back, chest and kidneys all in one.

Me and my partner have fox comp 5 boots, which seem to fall apart after a few rides for him - but lasted a year for me.

Have you considered a neck brace? I've only had one for about 4 months now, but gees, I don't know it's on and if it saves your neck or back only once then its worth its weight in gold.

Thats my input anyway.

Remember when buying a helmet to make sure the goggles fit the eyes port properly. You need a bit of space around the goggles so some breeze can circulate

HELMET - best you can afford - you only get one head - wrap it in quality -

i ware the shift under body armor - its a good fit and goes under jersey so its easy to where a camelback.

boots - alpinstar make good boots and tech 8 start at $350 ......... i don't mind them .

There bloody dear
I,m more than happy with the M2R helmets and price wise there real good
I run the old fashion plastic over the jersey body armour for a couple of reasons
1 i find the under jersey far to uncomfortable in summer
2 I,ve found they offer better protection for collarbones
Boots i,m using Forma ( of ebay ) cause there cheap and offer pretty good protection , ( i stopped buying dear boots cause for some reason i destroy soles at an alarming rate)
I run the Thor Force knee guards ( comfortable and very long lasting ) there not a knee brace but close

I just last week bought myself a neck brace and a new pressure suit. If you want to get a neck brace you will probably have to look at one apart from the FOX pressure suit as it doesn't sit nicely with the chest protectors. However in saying that the fox pressure suit I think is very good.

I bought a Leatt pressure suit - people will tell you it is hot but whilst I have only been for one ride in it I found it quite nice to be honest. And the thing about it is that it is made by the company who makes neck braces to fit correctly together. Just incase you are in Brissy and want to try one on they are at the Yamaha shop on Moss Street.

Helmet, I have a boofhead so I was limited and the only one that fitted me nicely was one of the shoei helmets. They are expensive but in saying that I have found it really comfortable. They also have a little thing (hopefully never needed) that you pull on the insides near the cheeks which allow the sides of the helmet to come off in an emergency to get access.

With the rest just pick what is comfortable I guess. And dont be shy to fight for a better price - screw them down on price because they will budge on their prices, might even find it wise to get a few prices and shop around or even use the internet.

And one final thing - buy barkbusters for your bike to protect your hands :) They are very nice to have.

Hope this helps.

I had an alpine star pressure suit, was great and lasted my beginner years so was sturdy. I have a fox one now, and the neck brace fits beautifully..... But I'm a girl and I cry at times.....

fox titan pressure suit because it zips in the middle and not off to the side or if over the jersey armour make suer you get a kidney belt and elbow guards knee guards are also a good investment

I,ve gone back to open hand guards on the TM
I,m running the Cycra ones that have an aluminium mounting bracket which is long enuff to protect your levers more often than not but still don,t trap your wrists if you go over the bars ,
Seeing Shaneos adventure with the log in the creek on saturday just put the brakes on me going back to Bark Busters dontknow
