I not long ago bought a 450 4 stroke. A little on the big and heavy side for my unfit / pissweak size.
If I was do it again, I reckon I would go a 300 2 stroke. Either a Berg or a TM.

Just my 2c

You forgot to add..... wrists of a 7yr girl

Post Re: What bike?
i have had pritty much every ktm going - ktm 300 2t ,ktm 250 f exc , ktm 500/525 exc , ktm 400 exc .. a husky 500 and a bmw 450 . got the 13 berg 450 now ..just a bit of advice the 300 2t and the 250 f are good bikes but you have to keep them on pipe changing gears all the time !! to keep them in the sweet spot or they just BOG down . the 500 and 450 just ride them selfs stick them in 3 rd gear and let the motor do the work, both feel a bit heavy in the singel stuff but great on the open fast stuff . i reckon the ktm 400 exc is the best all round trail bike feels heaps lighter then the 450 when riding , still got to work the gears a little but nothing like a 250 four stroke and will not pull your arms out like the bigger bikes , great bike for hills just the right power !!did 12000 klms on mine around kenilworth and glasshouse not one problem and it did 120 klms to a tank with lots of hill work

i sold my 2011 ktm 400 exc for $ 6,100 so you should be able to pick 2010 modell up for 5,000 ( get 2008/2011 modells only )

hope that will help

cheers mate

Duke. Dont rush in and buy. Just hold back and keep trying and looking around, At the wright place at the wright time you will find what you like. Get onto our bikes for sale section on here and have a look and see whats there. If the add is old just pm the member and see if they still have it, You never know it might be still available. Also check our sponsors such as dealers etc and give them a ring and ask what they have got. One thing i can give for advice, Get a bike with electric start. You wont look back. Another thing when looking around, Get onto youtube and type in what type of bike you may be interested in. Eg: 2010 Husaberg Te300 review. Scroll down and click on what available. The biggest thing is to keep looking and looking.

Sorry to say ( coz i,m a big fan of Husky,s )
But i,m not convinced on the 4 strokes (Although the new ones 449 and 511 seem to be good ) , plenty of people have had a brilliant run out of them where as others haven,t
Electrics seem to be there achilles heel dontknow
There 2 strokes are bombproof icon_thumright

I have a 2009 TE310 and I love it, great bike in my opinion. The money seems about right, mine has 2000km on it and I have had the valves checked twice and they have been within the tolerances both times. They come with heaps of goodies that some of the later model bikes don't have, fuel injection, hydrualic clutch and they go hard too, they keep up with 450's in the twisty tracks . I surprised my mate a few weeks back when we raced and he only just pulled away from me on his RM250.
