Post 2007 WR250f wiring problems
Hi all, bought myself a 2007 WR250f for $2650.00, which I felt was a good price. It had been used predominantly on a farm and the odd forest trail ride. Now I want to get it registered but have some issues with the lights.
Looks like someone has had problems with the lights because the wiring has been cut and joined to separately run wires. The bike its self runs quite well but I need some advice on what should work when firstly the ignition is switched on and then when the engine is running.
This bike has front and rear hydraulic brake light switched to operate the rear brake light, a tail light and number plate light. This is one of the areas I am having a problem. When I put the ignition on only the rear tail light and number plate light comes on and nothing else works.
If I pull the front brake or push the rear brake the tail light goes out and the number plate light stays on, no brake light.

Another thing is that a neutral light has been wired into the system, does anyone have any knowledge on how this is done so I can check it has been done correctly, another area of the wiring system where it has been cut and other wires added.
The head light has also had wiring alterations done to it. All these things I would like to try and get back to standard.
Does anyone possibly have a wiring diagram for this bike or point me in the right direction to get one.

It also needs some mechanical work but that's the least of my worries. Dead keen to get these thing sorted so I can start riding it. occasion14

Flashers won't work until engine is running nor will rear brake light on a wr

Brake light switch on rear brake is only around $ 24 at Yamaha. Dealers

Even the headlight stays off until bike is started basically just a tail light and dash lights work until started ..

I just helped a mate with similar issues on his 2007. The stock ADR wiring loom is a piece of shit. Its a completely separate loom.
Blinkers, Headlight and brake lights all run AC picked up directly from the lighting coil.
We ended up converting his to DC. The best way is to get a wiring diagram and check every wire.
Start from where the ADR wiring picks up its power. Behind the headlight, a 2pin plug with yellow an black coming out of it (I Think). Should be about 15VAC when bike is running.

Ac should be around 90v

Uou would have voltage regulator there somewhere ?
If lights don't come on till bike is started. Then there should be 2 dc leads out of regulator ..
One to charge the battery & one to run all lights etc

Found a wiring diagram along with all the other info and got all the electrics sorted out.
Just the mechanical to sort out now.
Has anyone taken the carb out of one of these things before. Looks a tight squeeze and lots of different pipes and connections I am not used to.
It seems to be running a bit lean at idle, tried adjusting the mixture screw but didn't sort the problem. Still has a rough idle. Tends to go up and down. In the motor trade we call it hunting.
I suspect some dirt in one of the jets or ports. Goes like the clappers once you get past idle. Just wanted to know what has to be disconnected and removed to get the carb out.
Thanks for all the info and advice thus far.
